A Delightful Spring Teatime on the Farmstead

In the heart of late spring, we held our first teatime mini session, a charming gathering that brought together mothers and daughters for a beautiful morning on the River View Farmstead in Naperville, Illinois. The setting was nothing short of magical—a small field nestled amidst the vibrant prairie, with a stately limestone farmhouse, a rustic white barn, and a towering oak tree providing a picturesque backdrop.

Each mother-daughter pair took turns having a pretend tea party. The scene was meticulously arranged by Kristin at Kio Kreations to evoke the elegance and charm of a bygone era.

The French tea set from the 1890s, with its delicate patterns and intricate details, was the centerpiece around which everything else revolved.

Our color theme was brought to life with linen, balloons and local spring florals, that added bursts of color and vibrancy to the bistro set.

As the mothers and daughters settled into their tea parties, the field came alive with laughter and joy. The children, dressed in their finest, were particularly delighted by the small cookies that had been carefully arranged on a platter.

Their genuine sweet smiles and giggles as they nibbled on the treats were a testament to the simple pleasures that can make a moment truly special.

They walked hand in hand, sharing stories and enjoying each other’s company in a setting that seemed tailor-made for creating lasting memories. The towering oak tree, with its expansive branches, provided the shade and dappled light in the glow of the morning sun.

Each tea party was unique, with mothers and daughters engaging in fun conversations and playful banter. The pretend tea, poured with great care from the antique teapot, was an excellent prop for sparking imagination and creativity.

Each little girl also went home with their teacup and saucer, a material reminder of their teatime with mom in the prairie.

It was a beautiful moment to dress up and partake in a pastime tradition that, while perhaps less common today, still holds a special place in our hearts.

The event was more than just a tea party; it was a celebration of our family’s tea set, the bond between mothers and daughters, and a chance to slow down and appreciate the simple joys of life. The prairie, with its wild beauty, and the historic farmhouse and barn, provided a setting that was both grounding and uplifting.

Our first teatime mini session on the farmstead was a resounding success, a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. It was a morning that will be cherished by all who attended, a beautiful testament to the power of connection and the enduring charm of a simple tea party.

As we look forward to future teatime mini sessions, our beloved French tea set will be making a return. The set will display fresh, seasonal colors, blooms, and delightful new treats.

Whether it's the vibrant hues of summer or the warm, cozy tones of autumn, each tea party will be a celebration of love, laughter, and the precious bond between mothers and daughters. Join us for these heartwarming gatherings and create everlasting memories.
